Having sex used to feel like picking up a Magic 8 Ball. I would shake it vigorously and have a random fate be revealed. Other times, I’d see “outlook not so good,” and frustration, confusion, flatlining arousal, and anger would kill the mood.
In these moments, I’d feel wrong and broken, and I would place blame on myself and my partner. This created a huge feeling of rejection, pain, and being misunderstood. I’d start to question if the person I was so deeply in love with wasn’t sexually compatible with me, and why there wasn’t a handbook on sexual compatibility that I could just follow.
